why PHP, not HPP ??

PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor.
So why are nt we calling it HPP ??

PHP stands for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor". Try to wrap your brain around that.

Rumour has it that it used to stand for Personal Home Page.

It was first called Personal Home Page by programmer Rasmus Lerdorf while writing code to maintain his own "personal home page."
Later,some Isreali developers formed PHP 3, changing the acronym to the recursive "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor."
It's a lot like GNU in that the first letter actually stands for the acronym itself, Gnu's Not Unix
