Calling All PHP Saints..Downed Angel Needs Your Help!

Post by Yarpool »

Dear friends,

Please welcome me into your community. My name: Michael Pierre and I have come to all of you in hopes that you may rid me of these php demons that are bent on bringing down my business b4 it even has a chance.

Short Description:
I have spent my entire savings, time and dedication to presenting an auction site similar to that of ebay to only be battling the very coder who created all the scripts 4 me.

Story:
So, i hire this guy from India (Yes, i know... u ask why?) {Because, we all like to save $} Anyhow, he actually did a descent job creating all the scripts such as import feedback and auctions from other sites, post items 2 twitter etc.. But, (and i mean But) This guy got so sick of me calling him out on a couple of scripts that he had the audacity to remove all my folders and files from my Cpanel. So i thought, crap..i better pay this guy and create a back up as soon as he puts the folders & files back, eh? So i did. He put the folders and files back and i created a back up and paid him. Today is Aug 21st and everything was working until this morning. I attempt to open my site and BAMM! There's nothing to see. Instead of my wonderful Home Page (will not post here to avoid getting banned or something:-) But, you know.. instead of the .com at the end i get an error.php at the end, but the page is still blank? Now i know this guy has put something in one of these scripts, files or what have you so, he may take over whenever he wants. I changed the password to Cpanel/ftp and this guy still got in to make changes? I am hoping that there is someone here that wouldn't mind looking into this 4 me and with me? I really have exhausted many channels with no luck. The only thing that occurred priot to this latest error is my host changed my password due to the breach by the programmer. Don't know if this would create problems with DB's or something?

What are you trying to get here? some sympathy? I don't see a real question in there. So you hired an Indian guy to save money instead of paying for an established professional. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Most of us here are those established professionals that charge what you might consider high rates but deliver accordingly. Did you really expect to duplicate Ebay using a low-budget and some offshore developer? creating a professional site is not just about "hacking" a couple of "scripts" together.
Personally, I can't really sympathize with your situation. It also sound like you've worn your welcome with your Indian programmer which doesn't bode well for you.

Best of luck going forward.

There is no need to make generalizations about the quality of work done by Indian developers
I'm sorry if you inferred it that way, but I was not deriding the quality of work by Indian developers in general. I was referring to the blatant assumption that you can simply outsource projects for much less pay and expect to receive similar quality. I stand behind what I said, and that is you get what you pay for.

Were you able to access the site after the password was changed? It is possible that the password for your database was changed and the password stored in the script needs to be updated.
Thank you for approaching my concerns in a professional manner;-) I am looking into this now. Will update my progress.
Thanks again,
Mike Pierre
