The next and previous link does not appear in pagination

Post by upendra470 »

i have used pagination in the following code but the next and previous button does not appear...i have included the style.css also but still it does not work. The data is fetched from the database and displayed inside a table with 2 records per page(as $limit = 2) but i am not able to find out how do i navigate to next page since no pagination object appears.

<?php
include("_includes/header.html");
?>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.title="Control Panel for IHROYDC - User";
</script>
<div id="body">
<div class="content">

<?php
include "session.php";
?>

<h1>Users</h1>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<table class= "gridtable">
<tr>
<th width="46"><input type='checkbox' name='checkbox' id= 'checkbox' />
<th width='122'> Name</th>
<th width='96'>Password</th><th width='70'>Email</th><th width='87'>Address</th><th width='85'>Country</th><th width='82'>State</th><th width='86'>City</th><th width='124'>Contact</th><th width='123'>Allow/Disallow</th></tr>
<?php
/*
Place code to connect to your DB here.
*/
include "connect.php"; // include your code to connect to DB.

$tbl_name="users"; //your table name
// How many adjacent pages should be shown on each side?
$adjacents = 4;

/*
First get total number of rows in data table.
If you have a WHERE clause in your query, make sure you mirror it here.
*/
$query = "SELECT COUNT(*) as num FROM $tbl_name";
$total_pages = mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query($query));
$total_pages = $total_pages['num'];

/* Setup vars for query. */
$targetpage = "user.php"; //your file name (the name of this file)
$limit =2;
//$page = 0; //how many items to show per page
//$page = $_GET['page'];
$page = isset($_GET['page']) ? $_GET['page'] : 0;
if($page)
$start = ($page - 1) * $limit; //first item to display on this page
else
$start = 0; //if no page var is given, set start to 0

/* Get data. */
$sql = "SELECT * FROM $tbl_name LIMIT $start, $limit";
$result = mysql_query($sql);

/* Setup page vars for display. */
if ($page == 0) $page = 1; //if no page var is given, default to 1.
$prev = $page - 1; //previous page is page - 1
$next = $page + 1; //next page is page + 1

Re: The next and previous link does not appear in pagination

Please use [syntax] tags when posting code in the forums.

This code

Code: Select all

<?=$pagination?>
relies on a PHP configuration setting named short_open_tag. If the setting is off, those 16 characters will be sent to the browser just as they are. Because HTML tags also begin with "<" and end with ">", the browser will treat the code as an HTML tag. There will be no effect other than the code disappearing into the HTML source code.

Either enable short_open_tag or change the code to use the long open tag:

Code: Select all

<?php echo $pagination; ?>
