Hey guys.. How we all doing?.... Am having my first play with php and server side stuff!... Its a tough learning curve and grateful for things like this forum... Of which Im new to guys?! (forums).... So forgive me if I say things out of place!... 10yr+ ago new html javascricpt static stuff well.. first time back and much has changed... First time back and the first thing I notice/learn... These CMS structures are going to dominate the market!... handing all the power over to those best to hold them.. Host providers!.. Daaaamn!.......

Not since "Evony" have I seen banner slashing like that!.. hahaha...

My first attempt is a simple comments page(fun project).. just for myself as a quick "to do!" list.. working off a basic standalone guest book demo.zip... Would like to screenshot to show progress & if poss ask basic questions about making changes...

Not sure how to add an image?.. I understand the tag, but not sure what to place inbetween?.. am I adding the hole path to demo pic?.. eg.http../../..image.jpg???....

Grateful for the advice..... ty.. Brian

I hope this answers the question (it's not really related to php though); i prefer using a relative path (../images/pic.jpg) as opposed to an absolute one. I'd say absolute paths are useful if you want to add an image not on your own server; for things on your server go with relative paths

As social_experiment said, this is the PHP Code forum. There are something like 30 forums here on PHP Developers Network (see home page) and it's important to post in the appropriate forum, to get the attention you are seeking. We try to organize these forums so you can get specific help in various technologies.

Maybe a plain HTML forum would provide better guidance for you, to begin with. You can't do much with PHP without a firm knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript, because most of what PHP does ends up being sent to the browser in those languages. You might take a look at some of these:
http://www.htmlforums.com/
http://forums.htmlhelp.com/
http://www.codingforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=13
http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2
http://forums.devshed.com/html-programming-1/

I'm not trying to drive you away from PHP DevNetwork forums, and when you get to the point where you're learning how to handle PHP, we're here to try to help you. But for questions like yours, a forum dedicated to HTML, CSS, and Javascript would probably be more productive.

Shoot!.. Im starting this out all wrong!.. lol.... Sorry guys and thanks for the wisdom & patients....

I sooo asked my question the wrong way by the looks of it?....

.html .js and css (+d,xml etc) flash with heavy animation & action scripting.. I can write all these with my eyes closed!... The "Image" question was far more basic!.. "How do I "insert" an image into this forum, with this text???.. I see "Img" button but not quit sure what to place in tags??... SORRY!......

Ended up doind as a link?.. lol... loser!.. lol....

I think it is php/sql forums Im specifically look for?... As I go sever side for the first time..... Choose that over asp.net and forget the others like coldfusion etc!.. lol... Ooh well, they did get flash right!.. lol.....

Im about to try and Install & setup - XAMPP - for the first time... Learned yesterday I can use it to test php client side?!... So over uploading and testing over & over again!...

THANKS for the help guys... dont worry well get me there?!..

ps - sure I'll be back with some meltdown about how that went!.. hahaha
