SEO Page Numbering "next" links, and Schema

Hi
I've been told there is a code we need to use for Page Numbering, and it was called something like "raol"....
It's a way of telling Google etc that the next page number is ...1..2... etc. I don't know quite what it means, as surely it picks up the page numbers from the URLs and the Sitemap.
Also, is Schema Markup important, particularly for ecommerce websites? I think I've seen wordpress use it a fair bit.
I assume you use their tool to establish Brand, Title, Description, Price etc, and use their <span> code to wrap it around the variables in the template...???
