Pear ?

Why is pear (pear.php.net) good for?
I know some of syntax, but I don't know why is it good for... pros&cons ...

Can anyone help me out? Thenx...

he isn't so good

pear has several bugs..
ofcourse, pear::db is good, a lot of databases are supported. but that's slow. i've written my db class and all is working 2 - 3 times faster.
and btw, not all servers have pear. so think about this too.

OK, ok..... err, that wasn't very nice. Ha ha ha ha .......
The problem I have with it is that many of it's classes are just plain bloated. The db stuff for example really should be done differently. There should be a seperate query object and much of the stuff that's included isn't often used. Why instantiate that stuff if you're not going to use it?
I think OOP is cool stuff. I REALLY DO!
BUT, Pear is not doing any good (in a number of areas) for the OOP PHP community.
