I, myself, think that MySQL isn't a programming language, but simply a database. Since I could only vote for 1, then I did vote for PHP. ;)

SQL is not really a programming language, it is a query language. Things like Oracles PL/SQL is a programming language.

Perl is also very nice. I have been doing a lot of scripting with it lately, mostly tools to help maintain CVS passwd files and what not. Also, to work with rsync, etc.

PHP still holds the plate for the web field, where I do most my work, but if I am going to do scripting for command line, or programs that are not run on the web, Perl is as good a tool as any, and better than many at that.

As per my latest DevBlog: http://www.newbienetwork.net/devblogs.php?blogid=4
