A Road Map Please - ID#419783

Post by ronchicago »

It just occurred to me, maybe this will help narrow the question down a bit. I am currently the administrator to a site I designed and the DB person selected the following...

php v 4.1.2
mySQL v 3.23.56
Zend engine v 1.1.1

****

I am registered and new to this site. I looked around and wanted to reply to an existing thread in the "Tutorial" section but got a page that said "only moderators" can post replies. Got the same message when I tried for "New Topic." Is the tute section off limits?

I would like to learn php and need some basic info to get rolling. Is this the right forum? If so, what section works best for php 101? or even a bit further to the left, "Introduction and explanation of server side programming in order to create a dynamic Web site."

Thank you, Ron

Welcome to the DevNetwork Forums. I'm feyd the resident Skunkworks Administrator and all around most post happy. :)

This thread has been moved to PHP - Code, as that board is for asking about php and learning the ropes via reading and asking questions.

I'd suggest having a read through our PHP Starter Pack: viewtopic.php?t=21400

To answer your question about the tutorials section, it is off limits for posting by anyone except the moderators, administrators, and the tutorials group. The basic reason why is it is strictly for close-to, if not completely, final tutorials. They generally aren't up for discussion as their content has been scrutinized by the tutorials group along with the moderators. If you have a specific question regarding a tutorial, the "PHP - Code" board is where to ask, most of the time. Please be sure to read all the stickies in each programming board.
