Reload page : Keep current form entries

Post by facets »

Hi Gang,

As the title suggests. How does one reload a page but keep the current form entries.
ie, I've just updated a stock code from a popup window and wish to use that code as a selection (from a dropdown).

Any tutorials or links on this would be appreiciated.

many thanks, will

You do not have to reload the page. You can use JavaScript to "transfer" data from popup window field to your form field. phpBB has a similar soultion for transfering user names when e.g. sending a PM. Of course, you can always submit the form and insert the post data into form fields again.

give the forms value, perhaps using $_GET
or $_POST them inside hidden input fields, and redirect to the necessary page

I'm unsure how to use your example.
Here's what i'm trying to do..

Paper Category (Drop down) reads from DB to populate DropDown Menu
StockId does the same, but stockId has a submit button which displays the stockId & description etc in a popup.

When stockId 'submit' is submitted the form resets and clears all entered data.
I've seen this done correctly many times, but am unsure on the terminology to search for examples.

My trial failed :

Code: Select all

echo "e;<input type='hidden' name='paperCategoryId' value="e;.$_GETї'paperCategoryId']."e;>"e;;
