Hi to all ,
Scenerio:
I have developed a song library for my site. There are two links infront of each song . "Listen" and "Buy " User will come here and listen or buy the song here.
Problem :
User comes here and right click the listen link and clicks on "save target as". Now he can save it to the disk . and here's the key .... i want user to restrict here to just listen it here, not to download, otherwise the objective of "Buy" link will be failed.
So,kindly help me how can i apply restriction on "Listening" ????
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Waqas

most sites that do this use a streaming only form for listening, or a truncated song... I think that would be .ram files, but I can't remember RealMedia stuff since they moved to my actively seek and destroy side

you should just make a preview section and a buy section so it doesnt matter if anyone downloads the preview files.
i dont know how to block out the save as thing...
Problem is still there !!!

Hi
Thanks for ur reply, but i can't do that, i 'll have to solve above mentioned problem.
Anyways, i 've seen a web site in which i listen the music at real media, but when i tried to download it, a small file of some bytes have been downloaded that was not playable but it was just a link to that music on internet when i double cliked the downloaded file, it just take me to the online location and played the song online. So, i wana know how can i do that ?
Thanks.

Hi Sir,
thanks for reply, kindly tell me how can i start exploring this technique of "Streaming Only form" and please explain how can i solve this problem, i don kno wht u mean by "Streaming Only Form or Truncated Song"
Furthermore, the site i 've explored for such a scenario is as follows: in this site u can just listen Contents not to Save it to disk, if u 'll save, it will just save the link... not the complete file.
http://www.apnaorg.com/poetry/anwar/audio.html
lolzzz,... Although its not ur language, and u don'nt know wht the person is saying, but just concentrate on the Work done. Try to save it, it won't allow u to save complete file, but just a pointer.
Tell me wht he have done ?
thanx in Advance .
