Recommend A Script For Portal?

Hey All

I am not sure if this is the right area to ask this ... but did'nt see any other place that looked right.

Anyway, I am in need of a recommendation...

I want to do a portal - similar to yahoo, msn, etc --- seach engine, news headlines, links, polls, etc.

This would be for a "company homepage" (for employees, not public really).

I would like to be "custimzable" - like the new Customized Google page or 'My Yahoo' - where the uses can pick and choose what they want on thier page.

Does anyone know of a good script I can use for this - either opensouce or a paid one - I don't mind paying for it. I want something very custimzable and stable - something thay could easily manage a lot of users.

I've searched online and all I can find is these portal scripts for like Forums and CMS - I am not sure they work "stand alone" or not and have yet to find one that offers the "custom thing" (as in My Yahoo & Google).

Please any recommendations would be great! :-)

Drupal

Postnuke (assuming you either have a permanent security staff or are going to be running it exclusively on the company intranet)

Drupal (linked above) or Joomla! are my recommendations.

Oh yea, forgot about Mambo...err I mean Joomla...

It's a Nuke-type system but a lot more secure and well thought out. The "traditional" nukes such as PHP- and Post-Nuke are basically just big big hacks. However, it's easy to set them up and are fine for intranet portals.

I agree.

Especially in regards to backend management.

Joomla's backend is great.
