As a first-time poster in these forums, I understand if I've messed up along the way of not reading certain things and I shouldn't be asking this, but alas I'll take my chances.
I am in the process of building a webpage for a local sports team, and I was wanting to use PHP in order to help it be easier to update and such. I know there are many scripts and such that can be used for updating various portions, but I've also heard that using "portals" are a very easy way as well. I am just looking for some basic guidance on which direction to take. I know about where to look for some things, but I am rather clueless on what some of you, obviously more experienced coders and programmers, would think would be a good direction to take for this project.
I would honestly appreciate any help, and any direction, any of you could provide me, and I appologize if this message is seen as anything but a simple inquery for advice and direction.
Again I thank you all!

Indeed, if you're looking for a portal or something that you can edit through your browser then there are several packages that allow you to "click and choose" your features and allow for easy administration... like PHP-Nuke or Smarty (I think)
If it's not too heavy of an application and you feel like you could code what you need yourself, then I reccommend going for it! The people on these boards will be able to help you if you have questions and you'll learn a lot along the way.
Good luck!

I'd look at the existing Content Management Solutions (CMS) out there. Ones such as Joomla/Mambo can easily be used to quickly get a general site up. They are quite customizable with extensions, skins and such available.

I am going to begin researching the CMS and Portal systems that have been requested, and I appreciate the quick replies!
I have worked with websites that have already been coded in PHP and I know the benefits of them. I'm really just hoping I can begin to utilize it more and more in the future.

I saw on HotScripts a thing for Installation Kits. Would this be of help to me as well?
Also, the basic tools I'm hoping to have for this site, is a way to have the page automatically update say the next game. Once a date has passed, a new team logo will appear for the new game. Also I know there are some scripts out there that allow you to update a roster and such.
