Good move. PHP is a powerful tool.
There are a lot of people here willing to help those that are willing to help themselves. I suggest searching the forums on topics like "Good Editor" and "Good Books" to get you started.

No, PHP is not hard to learn at all. Its really one of the easier lanuages out there to learn. I suggest that you start off by reading php.net/tutorial and looking around the php.net site. I also suggest that you stick to the manual php.net/manual because it can be very helpful. Hope that helps.
