Not sure which portion of your code handles the date, maybe you could quote just that part, rather than a couple hundred lines of unrelated code for us to sort through?

What format of a date does your database accept? (is it a varchar, date,datetime, etc field)?

read the php documentation on the date() function. if you want a date in the format of mm-dd-yyyy you would do something like this:

Code: Select all

<?php
$myUnixTimestamp = strtotime("now");
$formatedDate = date("m-d-Y",$myUnixTimestamp);
?>

I have this table set in my db:

Code: Select all

CREATE TABLE users (
 username varchar(30) primary key,
 password varchar(32),
 userid varchar(32),
 userlevel tinyint(1) unsigned not null,
 email varchar(50),
 timestamp int(11) unsigned not null
);
Note: that the "timestamp" is in "integer". Would it be best to change this to "date" or "datetime"?

I'm sorry, I'm not a professional, but if I was to store a date in the database, it would be in a timestamp format. Here is a link to the documentation on mysql's site:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/datetime.html

Whenever you put a date/time into the database, use strtotime() to convert it to a timestamp. Then anytime you want to pull a date out of the database, use date() to convert it to a friendly date.

I use this on some of my current apps, and SQL has functions to compare dates in the timestamp format, should you need to search based on that.

Got my problem sorted....Cheers. Added NOW() to my time and used date('YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS') aswell. also changed my db to suit this.

Thanks for your help
