Combining Watermark Script with Resize script

Post by newjay1000 »

I have found two useful scripts, one for watermarking (on image display, not upload), which is perfect, and one for resizing which is also perfect. I want to combine the two scripts. I have hit my head against the wall repeatedly hoping something useful would fall out, but alas, I am turning to the wisdom of the forums...

Here are the two codes, maybe someone can combine them correctly for me....

Resizing code:

Code: Select all

<?php
header ("Content-type: image/jpeg");
/*
JPEG / PNG Image Resizer
Parameters (passed via URL):

img = path / url of jpeg or png image file

percent = if this is defined, image is resized by it's
          value in percent (i.e. 50 to divide by 50 percent)

w = image width

h = image height

constrain = if this is parameter is passed and w and h are set
            to a size value then the size of the resulting image
            is constrained by whichever dimension is smaller

Requires the PHP GD Extension

Outputs the resulting image in JPEG Format

Filename : imgsize.php
*/

$img = $_GET['img'];
$percent = $_GET['percent'];
$constrain = $_GET['constrain'];
$w = $_GET['w'];
$h = $_GET['h'];

// get image size of img
$x = @getimagesize($img);
// image width
$sw = $x[0];
// image height
$sh = $x[1];

if ($percent > 0) {
    // calculate resized height and width if percent is defined
    $percent = $percent * 0.01;
    $w = $sw * $percent;
    $h = $sh * $percent;
} else {
    if (isset ($w) AND !isset ($h)) {
        // autocompute height if only width is set
        $h = (100 / ($sw / $w)) * .01;
        $h = @round ($sh * $h);
    } elseif (isset ($h) AND !isset ($w)) {
        // autocompute width if only height is set
        $w = (100 / ($sh / $h)) * .01;
        $w = @round ($sw * $w);
    } elseif (isset ($h) AND isset ($w) AND isset ($constrain)) {
        // get the smaller resulting image dimension if both height
        // and width are set and $constrain is also set
        $hx = (100 / ($sw / $w)) * .01;
        $hx = @round ($sh * $hx);

        $wx = (100 / ($sh / $h)) * .01;
        $wx = @round ($sw * $wx);

        if ($hx < $h) {
            $h = (100 / ($sw / $w)) * .01;
            $h = @round ($sh * $h);
        } else {
            $w = (100 / ($sh / $h)) * .01;
            $w = @round ($sw * $w);
        }
    }
}

$im = @ImageCreateFromJPEG ($img) or // Read JPEG Image
$im = @ImageCreateFromPNG ($img) or // or PNG Image
$im = @ImageCreateFromGIF ($img) or // or GIF Image
$im = false; // If image is not JPEG, PNG, or GIF

if (!$im) {
    // We get errors from PHP's ImageCreate functions...
    // So let's echo back the contents of the actual image.
    readfile ($img);
} else {
    // Create the resized image destination
    $thumb = @ImageCreateTrueColor ($w, $h);
    // Copy from image source, resize it, and paste to image destination
    @ImageCopyResampled ($thumb, $im, 0, 0, 0, 0, $w, $h, $sw, $sh);
    // Output resized image
    @ImageJPEG ($thumb);
}
?>
Watermarking code:

Code: Select all

<?php

header('content-type: image/jpeg');
$image_name = $_GET['image'];
$full_server_path = "/path_to_directory/photos/"; //enter full server path to image directory here including trailing forward slash
$watermark = imagecreatefrompng('watermark.png');
$transparency = 50;
$watermark_width = imagesx($watermark);
$watermark_height = imagesy($watermark);
$image = imagecreatetruecolor($watermark_width, $watermark_height);
$image = imagecreatefromjpeg($full_server_path . $image_name);
$size = getimagesize($full_server_path . $image_name);
$dest_x = $size[0] - $watermark_width - 0;
$dest_y = $size[1] - $watermark_height - 0;
imagecopymerge($image, $watermark, $dest_x, $dest_y, 0, 0, $watermark_width, $watermark_height, 50);
imagejpeg($image);
imagedestroy($image);
imagedestroy($watermark);

?>
Any and all help would be appreciated.

Hey Jason. This is my stab at putting the two together. This is a real hack job, but I wanted to have you give it a whirl just to see. The watermarking happens after the image resize. So, if your watermark is 100px wide by 20px, it will stay that size regardless of the size of the image. I wasn't sure if this was desired or not. Anyway:

Code: Select all

<?php

$img = $_GET['img'];
$percent = $_GET['percent'];
$constrain = $_GET['constrain'];
$w = $_GET['w'];
$h = $_GET['h'];

header ("Content-type: image/jpeg");

// get image size of img
$x = @getimagesize($img);
// image width
$sw = $x[0];
// image height
$sh = $x[1];

if ($percent > 0) {
    // calculate resized height and width if percent is defined
    $percent = $percent * 0.01;
    $w = $sw * $percent;
    $h = $sh * $percent;
} else {
    if (isset ($w) AND !isset ($h)) {
        // autocompute height if only width is set
        $h = (100 / ($sw / $w)) * .01;
        $h = @round ($sh * $h);
    } elseif (isset ($h) AND !isset ($w)) {
        // autocompute width if only height is set
        $w = (100 / ($sh / $h)) * .01;
        $w = @round ($sw * $w);
    } elseif (isset ($h) AND isset ($w) AND isset ($constrain)) {
        // get the smaller resulting image dimension if both height
        // and width are set and $constrain is also set
        $hx = (100 / ($sw / $w)) * .01;
        $hx = @round ($sh * $hx);

        $wx = (100 / ($sh / $h)) * .01;
        $wx = @round ($sw * $wx);

        if ($hx < $h) {
            $h = (100 / ($sw / $w)) * .01;
            $h = @round ($sh * $h);
        } else {
            $w = (100 / ($sh / $h)) * .01;
            $w = @round ($sw * $w);
        }
    }
}

$im = @ImageCreateFromJPEG ($img) or // Read JPEG Image
$im = @ImageCreateFromPNG ($img) or // or PNG Image
$im = @ImageCreateFromGIF ($img) or // or GIF Image
$im = false; // If image is not JPEG, PNG, or GIF

if (!$im) {
    // We get errors from PHP's ImageCreate functions...

    // Create the resized image destination
    $thumb = @ImageCreateTrueColor ($w, $h);
    // Copy from image source, resize it, and paste to image destination
    @ImageCopyResampled ($thumb, $im, 0, 0, 0, 0, $w, $h, $sw, $sh);

    $watermark = imagecreatefrompng('watermark.png');
    $transparency = 50;
    $watermark_width = imagesx($watermark);
    $watermark_height = imagesy($watermark);
    $image = $thumb;
    $dest_x = $w - $watermark_width - 0;
    $dest_y = $h - $watermark_height - 0;
    imagecopymerge($image, $watermark, $dest_x, $dest_y, 0, 0, $watermark_width, $watermark_height, 50);
    imagejpeg($image);
    imagedestroy($image);
    imagedestroy($watermark);

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! It seems to work just fine. The order of the watermark to resize doesn't bother me too much, I can always change the watermark image. I will test some more just to make sure all the functions work, but preliminary test shows thumbs up. You are a god send for me!
