Have Pity Sir ( Multi Dropdown)

Hi Averybodie,
Newbie here. I'm working on my first site (MySQL driven event list site). I am trying. I just finished sucking down a couple of tomes. (HTML4, FP2000, FP2002, PHP4, and PHP) and my head is so full it leans to one side, and yet I still seem to know nothing. Although amazingly enough I seem to understand your code and posts! Will wonders never cease? OK, enough of my drivel. God I need a beer. Here goes.
I have an .html form page that sends the data to a .php page that sends the data to the database. I cannot seem to get a multiple option dropdown menu to input multiple option values into a single column. Is this possible? I don't need to separate the data again. Or do I need to have a separate column for each option. Are arrays involved? How would I code the Input statement? Would the unchosen options just have a null value? Also one of the multiple dropdowns is the date. Would the day need 31 columns to allow multiple days? This seems like it would be a very basic thing but the books dont address multiple options in detail at all and I cannot find a FAQ or post.
Thanks a ton for your help. Just dont tell me to buy another book from Amazon.com just to make that guy Jason more money. I came here to get free help and thats what I want God Damn it. LOL LOL LOL You people tore that guy up! That was great. He had it coming. Thanks again, and my next post will be a little more of a challenge. (Like how do you use images to represent multiple option options to be submitted in a query?)....... Virgil
