Cross Hair mouse

Post by iknowu99 »

Hello All

I would like to add some code to my current html file so that there is a full screen cross-hair that replaces the mouse icon. It's the color white medium thickness line. some direction is appreciated. Currently I have some code from back in the day that doesnt work in any browser anymore:

Code: Select all

<div id="leftright" style="width:expression(document.body.clientWidth-2)"></div>
<div id="topdown" style="height:expression(document.body.clientHeight-2)"></div>

<p align="center"> <i><b><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#808080">
  <script language="JavaScript1.2">
<!--

if (document.all&&!window.print){
leftright.style.width=document.body.clientWidth-2
topdown.style.height=document.body.clientHeight-2
}
else if (document.layers){
document.leftright.clip.width=window.innerWidth
document.leftright.clip.height=1
document.topdown.clip.width=1
document.topdown.clip.height=window.innerHeight
}

function followmouse1(){
leftright.style.pixelTop=document.body.scrollTop+event.clientY+1
topdown.style.pixelTop=document.body.scrollTop
if (event.clientX<document.body.clientWidth-2)
topdown.style.pixelLeft=document.body.scrollLeft+event.clientX+1
else
topdown.style.pixelLeft=document.body.clientWidth-2
}

function followmouse2(e){
document.leftright.top=e.y+1
document.topdown.top=pageYOffset
document.topdown.left=e.x+1
}

if (document.all)
document.onmousemove=followmouse1
else if (document.layers){
window.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEMOVE)
window.onmousemove=followmouse2
}

You can use CSS cursor property. Take a look at the following links:

I hear you guys. Thanks.

This was a solution a few years back, and from what i remember the hardest part was in creating a non windows, cross hair that would replace the mouse - and it would be full screen. the css you are pointing to are typical windows ones. php sights seem interactive so i guessed php :offtopic:

If you read the content of first link closely you'll see that there is an url option which gives you the option to specify the image that will be used as your cursor.

Or maybe I totally misunderstood what you wanted.
