Javascript's performance

hi guys, i want you to review my website : infinitystuff.com, it's using javascript both on the menu and the banner, but, i noticed several days ago, that it ran very, very , very slow on several dated computers ( such pentium 4) , what's wrong with my code by the way??

Image scaling is very expensive and so is opacity animation. All images there are 580x360, you scale them to 980x320. If you change image sizes in photoshop instead of width and height attributes, then your slideshow will work a lot faster.
