Post by Shendemiar »

I need a A real simple, as few commands as possible text editor (the name of it), for i seem to have some problems with my terminal.

try emacs - it's pretty powerful and it's what I use. It's a little more complex than pico or joe, but it has automatic syntax spacing.
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

Hey, pickle, malcolm! He was asking for tiny editor, after all! Emacs and XEmacs are huge, Kate is GUI editor.
Personally I'd recommend vi as tiny and vim as powerful editors. Vi should work on widest range of terminals, it specifically designed for this.

He he. Ya, Emacs is huge in that it can do lots of stuff. Maybe I misunderstood, but I believe Shendemiar was looking for a simple editor, not necessaryily a tiny one. I use Emacs because that's just what I like. I've used Emacs, Joe, Pico, and Vim, and I like Emacs the best. To be honest though - if your just using one of these editors infrequently, and not for major coding, they are all very comparable and really the only deciding factor is which program's keystrokes make the most sense to you.
