XML, Perl, Python, and other languages can be discussed here, even if it isn't PHP (We might forgive you).

Webcam - Server related

Post by mikusan »

Hi, this is very difficult for me to put. I cannot find a decent piece of software to do the following, so if nobody has any suggestions as to the software that can perform this, very welcome otherwise i need some help doing the following.

Every webcam program on the net seems designed for monkeys, (my frustration). Seems like the only thing webcams are used fr doday is random takes of someones house on the net. What i need is a surveillance system, nothing fancy, just something that runs hidden from a computer that is used by many users (on a networked domain). My only goal is for it to upload the images taken every 1 second to my FTP server, and i mean upload all of the pictures. Not overwrite the same one over and over (like most of these software).

Then i have no other choice but ask you for help in at least heading me into the right direction with a script (language that can do this) to take each image, and store it with a timestamped date/time in another folder.

Thank you

Have you checked out X10? They have some amazing software that connects with your X10 cameras, and it allows you to see all of the cameras, from anywhere with an internet connection.

WOW that's the scetchiest website i have ever been to 8O
No seriously, i would be afraid going to that site let alone giving them my credit card :)

Anyways, Thanks for the suggestion, but my task is simple, i honestly don't understand why it is so difficult to find the software that does it.

any other suggestions?
