"Hardware"? More like "difficultware!"

Post by uberpolak »

Sorry about the title, really.

I'm trying to set up a DFI AZ30-TL motherboard to use the onboard VGA so I can free up the video card for another machine.

In my experience changes like this are usually done through the BIOS, but after exhaustively searching through it, I've found no option to use the onboard video. I then thought there may be a jumper on the board which would accomplish my desired task, but haven't found one. The documentation I got with the board licks ass, and doesn't even address the issue.

Has anyone used this board before, or run into a similar situation with a different one?

Before anyone asks, yes I've tried just plugging the monitor into the onboard VGA to see if it works - it doesn't, with or without anything in the AGP slot.

Thanks.

Try looking in the BIOS once more and see if there is a setting for something like video devises: use AGP or PCI output devise?

If the board is set to AGP, it will look for an AGP card, not the on board VGA chipset.

Hope this helps. :)

There is an init device setting, which has the options AGP or PCI. I want to use neither, rather the onboard VGA, but it doesn't matter, as with either choice it uses the AGP slot. Of course, I haven't been able to access DFI's web site to try their tech support, try as I might. I think I may have to find out where they're located and stone them.
