Internal print servers

Post by uberpolak »

What is the difference between the HP Laserjet 1300 and 1300N? The only difference I can find (except for the $300 in price) is that the 1300N has an internal print server. Since I'm going to use this printer on a small network (8 computers), do I need a print server? Would it not be sufficient to just install the printer on one computer and share it for the rest? Am I missing something?

Thanks.

8 computers? That is what I would do. I would install it on 1, and just share it over the network. With a network that small, I think a print server is not needed. If you were wanting to expand, thats a different story. But then again, they make print servers where you plug the Parallel cable from the printer into the server "machine". Most of the print servers I have seen are as small as most cable modems and maybe just a little over $100.
