is there an open-source version of an ide like dreamweaver ... something that can manage an entire site, linkages, etc ...

i doubt very much you'd get something as professional and feature filled as dreamweaver for free

Depends on if you mean a programming IDE, or a web authoring IDE.

It sounds like you mean web authoring, so I'll offer up NVU.

Opensource, free, comparable to Frontpage's layout (but with html output comparable to Dreamweaver's), its pretty much the cat's meow.

It runs on both Windows and Linux, and is actively developed by LinSpire (formerly Lindows).

Well, since he specifically compared his needed IDE to dreamweaver, I figure he meant HTML. Also, since the question of a nice PHP IDE has been asked more than a few times before, I figure you should just search the forums for that. :)
