computer acting up?

Post by gbteg3 »

Just wondering if any has had this problem. Whenever i go to bring task manager up, it disappears about 2 seconds after it appers. I can also not open rededit. The newest problemt that also just occured is that when i save picture files from the internet they all save as .bmp but when i click on the properties of the picture it self it is a jpg. Also add/remove programs wont let me get rid of anything. Thankyou....?

Yeah, pretty sure you've got some virus. Some of them close everything usefull when trying to get rid of them like msconfig, regedit, task manager, etc.

1) Adware SE
2) Spybot

Look for both on Google, download and install. They're free.

Adware is the better in my opinion. Both scan your harddrive and registry for any data miners, ad bots, and spyware that's installed itself in your system. A few windows utility pop up which you can ignore - the rest is usually spyingn and/or serving up adds through IE without your permission.

In case it's a virus make sure you're virus scanner is up to date. If have no scanner, there's a free one called AVG - search google again.

3 free programs which will secure your PC a lot better against any viral or spyware problems. Not bad, eh?

It's a virus.. I used to have it, who ever wrote the virus is careless, all you have to do is rename regedit.exe etc.. just rename it to BAK_regedit.exe etc... then double click on the newly named files.
I guess there is different versions of the virus because we tested it on my friends computer and it exits internet explorer if the page your are viewing contains the word "anti" and the word "virus".. i guess the author doesn't want you to get rid of it.
