Bluetooth GPS

Post by evilmonkey »

Hello,

I'm wondering how Bluetooth GPS works if Bluetooth is only made for short range communication between devices. My question stems from the fact that I saw USB-bluetooth adapters on sale at my local comp store for $44 (CDN), and I'm wondering if I can plug that into my laptop, load some software and it will work. I saw special bluetooth GPS recievers, but those are $200+. Any knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, I think I figured out what it is. The GPS reciever is a standalone device that communicates with other devices using the bluetooth technology. I found a pretty decent USB GPS reciever for about $90CDN, I might buy it.

Thanks. :)
