here's how I typically figure out what's going on.. I use a text editor that has diff controls in it comparing the original to the downloaded one..

Is it supposed to work if you link directly to a pdf file, because that is what a colleague is telling me.

you can link directly to the file, however if you need security on it then it's not a good idea.

It will only work if you have a browser plug-in, correct?

if you have the browser plugin it will normally load in that, if you don't but still have acrobat installed it will launch acrobat separately.. at least under normal circumstances..

Thanks a lot for your help... I really appreciate it. For now, I'm just going to link directly to the file, but eventually, I'd like to figure out why that wouldn't work. I just don't have the time right now. This is a great forum... I think I'll hang out :)
