Hi

I aint sure if this is the right section to post this in but here goes...

I am building a community style website in php and mysql, i have commercial experience in building extensive websites for various clients but this is the first large php website i will be building.

I wish to get some input from you on a couple of things. This website will be i guess similar to myspace and bebo but its going to have a lot of ajax and user control, i need your input to decide what things i should include any ideas would be great no matter how crazy and ahrd it would be to do.

thanks

What ideas are you starting with? How much like myspace are you trying to be? Have you searched these forums for myspace? There are a lot of developers that have this same idea and a lot of ideas have been posted in regards to that topic.

Yeah i've had a look here for myspace posts, ive seen one site that as ended which looked good and gave me a couple of ideas but before i came here i've been researching in to community websites and forums. I have built that basics such as logging in, registering, changing profile, messaging, uploading photos etc. Here is a list of ideas for the site i have so far, ill add to if i missed any off.

Profile (fully editable)
Avatar
Blog
Calendar (add dates like b-days etc)
Photo Album
Messages
Tagging (for blog posts and profile)
Templates (which can be added to in the future and maybe by users)
Edit CSS (instead of using a template customize your page)
Search Locations (search for users by location)
Rate Photos (rate photos if users allow)
Ajax Messaging (auto receave a message when you get a message without refreshing)
Polls (add polls to pages)
Comments on blogs
Comments on photos
Add Friends, aproval etc
ajax wysiwyg editor (already built and used in a cms i have built and used on over 10 websites for clients)
rss feeds
works on mac and pc and on most browsers maybe not mac-ie5 (its a b****h to get to work right)
option to add adverts or registration fee? (because servers etc don't come free if we get a lot of hits)
block bad users and try make as safe as possible
