Mail mystery

I wrote a program years ago where I could send emails from a database using smtp. Not web based. So I got it out and used it for 2 days no problem, sending plain text and html with embedded pictures. On the third day I was messing with a php script where I was updating records in a table. The script had a problem and sent over 75000 queries and I got a message saying that I was over the query limit on this user and crashed. It also crashed my site. So I added another user to the database and no problems with the site. Since that happened I'm having email problems. No html emails get sent - although I'm not getting any php errors or connect errors. The window based program I wrote years ago says its sending the email no connect or send error - but they don't go through - plain text or html. And html emails with pics don't go through. What could have happened?
Any ideas? Thanks -Scott

Is your IP on a spam list?

You will have to google for the various spam lists. The main one, which I occasionally appear on is SpamHaus. You put your IP into their form and the website will let you know if you are on their list. What is the maximum number of emails you have sent out within the space of 24hrs?

250

I think that is quite a lot, and all it takes is someone to hit junk/spam button instead of delete and your IP appears on a spam list (not quite sure the exact details and the spam lists do not publish it, otherwise spammers would always stay under the radar).
250 is quite a lot. Where did you get the emails from? Did they register on your website and opt-in to receive emails?

I went to their website and copied and pasted into my table. Is that illegal or unethical. I offer a free service to promote their product.

Are you on windows or linux? You will need to do a host lookup. You can use this tool, you type in your domain and it will return information on your domain including the IP...
