A lil help now, and a lot more later

Post by smordue »

We are working with a script we bought, but the developer has stopped supporting it. We are trying to launch a product offering around it, but are needing a few tweaks first. We have some big ideas for improving the script later, probably requiring a ground up rebuild. Looking for someone who might do a little work now on the cheap, in hopes that we can build a relationship with someone who can also help us a little later with the heavy lifting. Some of the knowledge required would be php, mysql, jwplayer, zend, jquery. Probably only need a few hours work right now from someone who knows what they are doing. Prefer to work via Skype.

Just a heads up that the "do some work now for cheap & we'll send more your way later" is a huge red flag for most web developers and designers. Offers like this almost certainly don't work out the way they're promised. While I don't know you and can't speak to the likelihood of it happening with you, I can say you're almost certainly not going to get any experienced developers responding to this.
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

I appreciate your comment pickle, to be honest I don't really need a heavily experienced developer for this first part. We have proof of concept now we just need to "fix" a couple issues to roll it out and then when it starts generating revenue, roll that back into development, but I am aware of how this sounds. Not sure of a better way to put it though :-), it is what it is.
