On the back of a number of recent client wins, The BIG Partnership is creating a new role within its digital division.

We’re looking for a talented and driven PHP Web Developer with a strong technical background. Working under our Technical Director you will play an integral part of delivering all technical projects across the agency. This role is within our Fife office.

Bit about us – The BIG Partnership is ranked as the largest PR agency in the UK outside London (PR Week Annual Top 150 Survey, May 2011). We have almost 100 staff across 4 offices and service over 300 clients right across the UK.This role will involve:

Scoping, spec’ing, developing and delivering technical aspect of websites either from new builds or integrating into existing. For example, this could be a Joomla website or a Facebook application.

Keeping up-to-date with latest web technologies and integrating these into client projects

Working closely with our Digital Designers to ensure best practice and meet client expectations.



Essential skills

PHP, MYSQL, XHTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT/JQUERY, AJAX, LINUX HOSTING (LAMP)

Web Application development (especially OOP)

Experienced in building database-driven web applications and websites

Site architecture skills

Knowledge of best practices for cross-platform, cross-browser compatibility

First class project management skills 

Meticulous attention to detail

Experienced in problem solving skills, testing and debugging

Strong mathematical skills

Good team worker

A highly proactive approach to working and learning

Keeps up-to-date with latest technologies

Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure

Able to apply creative thinking to projects

Educated to degree level (preferable, but not essential)



Preferable skills

3+ years professional web development experience

ASP, FLASH, SOAP/REST/XML, ACTIONSCRIPT, OBJECTIVE C

MVC Frameworks knowledge

Conversant with accessibility guidelines with previous experience of developing accessible web sites that fully comply with the W3C - WCAG standards

A good grasp of GUI design/usability

An awareness of Facebook framework/API, various other APIs

Commercial development experience

An good understanding of SEO, particularly On-page

Knowledge of web analytics programs

Client handling/customer service skills
