Hello. This is not a job exactly but a request for help at a fair fee. Need online help.
Subject: Drupal 6 to Blogger script published at github, difficulty understanding it.
I am hoping to find a person who understands php to help me, either by guiding me in following the use of a script or, for what you consider a fair fee, doing the work on my behalf. I am told it is fairly straightforward, but not for someone with my skill level.
I have a longstanding site that was made for me using Drupal 6. I have been told it is out of date and it is not trivial to redo it for drupal 7 or 8?. I have neither the skills or funds to undertake this. At first I thought of making a sitesucker static version but have found a better option. Luckily, I have found a script at github which imports the content of a drupal site (the posts) into blogger.
That is useful, since I have decided to continue my site on blogger anyway.
I can share both the drupal site address and the current blogger site if needed, but I created a separate blog just for the old drupal posts, which go back 8 years. They are in Japanese and English.
The script is here.
https://github.com/cvandeplas/inet_scri ... logger.php
I have little understanding of coding, and both the original developers and my webhost, plus the script author, have suggested I ask around for help.
Summary of where I am:
The instructions callfor taking the xml file from blogger. Then running the script--I think this is also called an xml file, filling in some variables from my drupal instalation, then somehow running it--on the web site or via cli (?)--, taking some data, pasting it into the blogger file and uploading it.
I have the variables, but am stuck because the program I downloaded for my MAC, TextWrangler, is unclear. I can't seem to copy the script into it. And if I do have a script loaded, there is no option to save as xml, I think html only.
My webhost also says he doubts it can run on cli as that would not give access to the files on the server. This is essentially a foreign language for me.
I do not really understand how I run the script. As well, it is not clear what part of the blogger xml file I replace with the new data.
NEEDED INFO for script
The variables I think I have gotten correctly are
$user=“db_drupal_user
$pass="db_drupal_pass”;
$db="database_name”;
BTW, there is also a another database file called “paul_dev”. Not sure what that is.
$db_prefix="drupal_";
While his script calls for this, there doesn’t seem to be a field for this.
He also says that I modify the $global_author* variables to match the blogger profile.Not sure what that means.
In sum, I am stuck and hope for help, either in terms of an explanation or someone kindly doing the work for a fee. I prefer the latter because I am notoriously dense when it comes to following instructions.
Again, if this is not the place to ask, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
Thanks,
Paul Arenson
