I am the owner of a Web Development Outfit in Texas and am in need of a highly skilled PHP/MySQL developer. Here are the requirements:

1. Ability to do virtually anything needed in php/mysql
2. Open to working on existing code
3. Professional and warm personality
4. Extremely reliable and willing to go the extra mile for my clients

Keep in mind that this is a position that can fill up your docket completely and very quickly. In order to establish trust, we will be giving you a small project to work on. Pay will be given upon completion of the first few projects.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime using AIM or MSN as I am on all the time. Look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
Tanner Jones

Pay after a few projects? So there isn't any per hour, or per project rate?

Then I take it your looking for volunteer work? If that's the case, let me know so I can move this topic to the proper forum.

doesnt that mean that you'd be getting work for free?

Yay, another reason to convince me to change careers and avoid personal unofficial transactions on the internet. Cynical perhaps, but cases like these sicken me.

Tim!

What are you doing? I don't think this is fair. A guy who is doing some work for me just let me know about your reply here. I am sure you are nervous about not being paid just like anyone else would, but since you decided to post this in public instead of emailing me first is a bit disturbing!

No worries though, I'm not mad. Just a bit baffled. I got 2 messages from you today. It looks as though one was when I was in a meeting and another was while I was watching a movie and that is it.

Since you decided to bring this out into the public, I now have my name to defend so if you would Tim, please let them know that you got an email from me and that you only got no response from me after trying me for hours and not even a day. Here is my messenger open for all to see for the day:

tcreativecom: ok sounds good :)
tcreativecom: thanks for your help

Again, to make sure we are straight - just as the email said this evening that I sent you: I need to get all my notes together and make sure what is left to be done in order to find a solution to the clients problem then we can conclude our business together.

Also, to answer the previous posts that I am just reading here, I am not looking for free work. The small jobs are paid jobs but I meant that I wouldn't immediately put anyone on a large project.

Tim....I am still beside myself here...

I did IM you twice which u did make clear that you use IM alot.

Anyway, after talking it came up to be that I IM'ed him at times he was away fromt he computer (which I did not know) and I was confused about a few matters that I concluded the details provided were not as those I personally would have given if in the other shoe.

All is well now, big confusion. As for the payment (for those who wish to know) it hasnt been sent yet, but will be dealt with if there is anymore problems with the site I was working on.

All n all, tanner is a great guy. If I wasnt jipped in the past for the "do this and i swear payment" deals, I wouldnt be so scared today and I feel bad for leaping to the bad on account of others evil plots of getting out of work!

Good job coming in here and changing your statements. Takes a big man/woman to do that.... two thumbs up for it! I know it is hard to do.

Thank you Tim! I agree with Steve on this. Normally people wouldn't go in and clear up what was done. The plan is to hopefully get in touch with you tomorrow to finish things up and pay you your moola!

I don't mean to comment on this particular job offer, but we do get some dubious looking posts from time to time and so people can get twitchy.

It's good to hear you both found what you wanted.

Yea, this doesn't look legit at all. I went to go work for him one night and he wasn't able to make a simple zip for me... It's been about 4 days and barely any conversation between us.

Oh well.

whats wrong with you guys? :?

no really, dont you ask for full documention of the project? i.e. 'what do you this app to do?'

this is what i do::::

1. ask the client the make a full list of all the features he/she would like in the app.

2. ask for a 15% of total cash up front.

3. email the client at end of every day and send a update about what i have done and what i plan to do, also if i have any questions.

simple...always ask for a up front fee, if they dont pay, dont work for them, its a big waste of time if you've done the work and they never reply. just paying the small 15% fee keeps checking up on you from time to time.

the reason for asking a feature list is cos from time to time you will get a client who will keep adding more and more features for same price. so, ask for a list, work out how long it will take you to build, send the 'quote' back and also let them know that any more features will cost extra!.
