[Job] PHP Developer Needed - Online

Post by realestninja »

Hello I wanted to compete with myspace.com because they are monopolizing the computing industry, and I am indeed jealous.
I wanted to know if anyone here knows a lot about database programming, and can help me learn how to program something that has the looks and feels of myspace in its entirety. I know this is a lot to ask for, but I thought I might just go on and ask, because I have nothing to lose, and I do believe someone is out there who can help me. I am a very good marketer and I know I can take myspace.com down the drain if I get help from the right person.

So basically I wanted to know if someone can instruct/teach/show me me over Aol Instant Messenger, My screen name is: [CHINCHASTE]
How to program something exactly like myspace (not including their logo/and branding)
I will do my own graphics. I am well versed in HTML and designing, I'm just not good with the programming aspect.

I AM WILLING TO PAY through paypal whoever can help me, but whoever can help me for free would make me happier and I will over much more than money can buy in the long run. I understand this is a ridiculous post, but I thought there might be a miracle.

Please contact me through e-mail at: chinchaste@yahoo.com
or at AOL MESSENGER @ CHINCHASTE

I also have a phone number I can provide if anyone is really interested in helping me.

There is too many out there to compete. Showmypro by Scrotaye (is from this forum) has a very good one. There are many. You got to watch out for like copyrights and stuff.

MySpaces' hosting bills are probably 20-30 grand a month, maybee even more.

Are you sure you want to do that?

What's the country code?

This is also going to cost you *a lot* of money for the development, let alone the hosting/maintenance. You'll need a fairly large budget just to get started ;)

01 or 001 depending on where you calling from. If your in the US you won't need to dial the country code.

Does this seem like viral marketing to anyone else? Screw MySpace. Their design is atrocious, many of their tools are barely functional, they constantly having multiple "features" down (with no warning at all, just a note "THIS FUNCTION XYZ WILL BE DOWN FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS. IM WORKING ON IT".

Do yourself a favor, DO NOT learn PHP by making a social networking tool. To be a solid networking tool that can handle hundreds of thousands of users, your first web app will fail miserably.

Start by learning basic procedural code, move on to object orient programming, THEN once you are comfortable with creating classes and keeping your code secure, only then can you consider making an app of this scale. Paying someone to train you the correct way will cost you a small fortune. You might as well go get a computer science degree.

Sorry if this is harsh. But man it just doesn't work this way.

Competing with a 60 million membered profile site isn't going to be exactly easy. I myself am jelous of MySpace's power, but the running costs scare me. Plus think of all them people trying to hack it every day ... that's some serious security costs too!

MySpace has an annual advertising revenue of $47million. NewsCorp bought it for $580million.

If you really think you can compete with an enterprise on that scale without knowing how to even begin then you're a bit crazy.

I can. And I am. But I'm not going to share.
