[Updated] PHP/MySQL Manchester(UK) FULL TIME

Post by ody »

There will be at some point in the future (within the year) a job opening up for a developer in Manchester (Didsbury area), I am looking for someone well versed in database development and management and of course a solid grounding in PHP. C, JS, XHTML, CSS, XML skill sets will make you more appealing.

You must be within reasonable commuting distance of Manchester or live in Manchester itself. You must be a strong team player. You should have your own transport.

The environment you will work in is very laid back (but at the same time can be very demanding). You will be expected to make senior developer role decisions (be able to think for yourself and know what needs to be done) and be able to communicate and work well with the rest of the team. You will be working under the direction of a lead developer and work closely with the already established senior developer who will walk you though the system you will be working on.

If you are looking for a job in a nice location of Manchester away from the bustle of city life and have the ability to think outside the box and a clean CRB please forward a CV(optional) but most importantly forward references to previous works (simply sending code you have crafted is enough).

The position salary will start at ~22k GBP and overtime is expected but unpaid (but you will be given a lot of flexibility in your day).

Lastly you MUST live in Manchester, be able to relocate or live within reasonable commuting distance! You will be expected to start work no later than 8:30 and leave around 4:30 with an hours lunch Mon-Fri.

Forward your details to: andrew[at]iris[dot.]ac

If the salary was about 60% higher then I might have considered applying.

I'm moving to Manchester for university in September, if you want a part-timer then, just tell me!

Unfortunately we're not particularly looking for a part-timer... although working in a very laid-back atmosphere there's a lot to do, a fair bit of inital learning of the core application structure and the CRB (Criminal Record) clearance takes some time to complete. If you are looking for part-time work around Manchester I imagine you'll find something though ;)

In what way(s) could you justify that?

We're running on government/city funding right now and we don't do "nine til 5" by-the-clock, under constant supervision type work. But yeah, OK.

I've got 7 years web dev experience, 5 of those PHP, I'm head of production at my current company, and I'm working right now. I've worked from home for the past two and a half years. I don't need supervision. Just a constant supply of tea and crisps. :)

Anyway.. enough of going off topic..
