Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and test server and client-side code for web-based software applications
• Work with Graphic Artists and Usability Engineers to optimize user experience of web-based applications
• Ensure cross-browser and cross-platform support (with graceful degradation) of web-based applications
• Participate in and/or lead formal and informal design and code review sessions
• Contribute to a team-oriented technical atmosphere

Required Skills:

Technical

• Solid understanding of the HTTP protocol, including its strengths and limitations
• Expertise developing seamless cross-browser, cross-platform user experiences with browser-based technologies and techniques (HTML, Javascript, CSS, AJAX/async calls)
• Proficiency with server-side scripting languages (i.e. PHP, PERL) and server-based development frameworks (i.e. JSP/Servlets, Apache modules)
• Proficiency interfacing to relational databases from within web applications (PHP/MySQL, Java/JDBC, etc)
• Proficiency developing software in either C/C++ or Java on Unix/Linux platforms a plus
• Experience with state-of-the-art feed and data sharing protocols (RSS, PodCasts, MicroFormats, etc.) a plus
• Experience with state-of-the-art file sharing and multicast protocols (P2P, BitTorrent, streaming protocols, etc.) a plus

Professional

• Clear, organized written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, multi-project environment and ability to respond immediately to often changing business priorities
• Ability and willingness to work in teams
• Strong analytical, investigative and problem solving skills
• Aptitude for cooperation and flexibility in rapidly changing environments
• Excellent organization and time management skills

Required Experience & Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field. Relevant post-graduate degree a plus.
• 4+ years of professional experience designing and building production public-facing web applications (Internet)
