Post by ody »

We are looking for a developer with at least 2years experience in the industry to take on the role of front end developer in our team.

The candidate will be required to demonstrate the following skills:

* To understand accessibility guidelines laid out by WCAG/W3C and why they are important
* Ability to make good use of JavaScript for basic tasks such as form validation
* To be able to create usable layouts ahead of design
* To have knowledge of CSS and be aware of the potential cross-browser issues
* To have a basic knowledge of Object-oriented PHP
* To have a basic knowledge of SQL and relational DB design up to 3NF
* To have a basic understanding of UNIX-like systems

Candidates with the additional following skills will be far more desirable:

* Ability to work with DHTML to enhance web page functionality
* To be able to create AJAX-driven applications
* Knowledge of PHP design patterns
* Knowledge of installing and maintaining a LAMP server from scratch
* Knowledge of SMTP and DNS services

Candidates will be required to show examples of previous work, along with a brief description of what it does.

We are a laid back team but are constantly working to deadlines and under large work loads so you must be self motivated and have an extremely keen eye for detail and understand the importance of accurate testing of your work. The project is a very large scale application and not your average web based development (you will not be developing web sites) so please bear this in mind when applying for this role.

The role will begin ASAP. The pay will be upto 28k and is open to negotiation.

Please send CV / example work to: andrew<a.t>iris.ac

It is in Pounds and will require relocating if you are not already in the Manchester area of the UK.

We are currently searching for candidates for this position. Salary posted is in GBP.

The initial contract would be for 12 months, although it's very unlikely this would not be extended. Although the original post says 28th September start date, this has been brought forward so candidates can start as soon as possible.

If you are interested please forward your CV to chris@iris.ac or andrew@iris.ac.
