Position for Experienced PHP Application Developer

The Texas Learning and Computation Center (TLC2) of University of Houston-Central Campus is offering an exciting and challenging opportunity for an individual with extensive experience in web application and web portal development. The Texas Learning and Computing Center, TLC2, that serves scientists and students at the University of Houston with infrastructure for high-end computing, networking, storage and visualization and grant administration services has an immediate need for an experienced PHP developer to engage in our development of project and center management information tools. The position requires close interaction with center financial and management staff and project leaders. Knowledge of integrating in web applications with enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft is desired. This is a great opportunity to work as team member of a cutting edge technology center.

The ideal candidate will posses experience in PHP, MySQL, Javascript, XML, AJAX, HTML/XHTML, Linux and Apache. The candidate will show a drive to be at the forefront of Web technologies and a desire to learn and work in a very fast paced environment. With deliverables due in a quick turn around period. The ability to plan and meet deadlines is essential.

Additional Preferred Skills

* Low level knowledge of fundamental protocols used on the Net - HTTP, SMTP, TCP/IP, etc.
* Knowledge of Multi-Threaded and Multi-Process programming techniques
* Linux system administration and configuration
* Familiarity with common web application algorithms
* Knowledge of common data structures used in Web applications
* Knowledge of the underlying principles behind application and environment security
* Experience with online payment processing
* Experience working in a version controlled development
