In need of a PHP Mentor

Post by thinsoldier »

First of all I don't have a lot of money but I'd feel better paying someone for this.

I need someone who could take a good look at the code in some of the projects I've worked on in the past 2 years and ask me whatever questions are necessary for them to get a good idea of what I know, don't know, probably need to know before I can advance any further, and the best order in which to learn these things going forward.

Then I want them to help me rebuild one of my projects but I'd be doing most of the work. They'll just be showing me code they've already written and explaining how something similar would work for my situation, helping me make the right decisions and make sure I'm doing things "right".
I'd also need help getting a proper development environment set up on my Mac with php, mysql, eclipse+pdt, and some proper debugging (i can't get eclipse to talke to mysql ATM :( )

It would be best if whatever they help me build in the end actually runs on my company's servers where are really old and lack pdo, mysqli, pear, and other things that prevent ZFW, Cake, and probably other frameworks from running on it.

Anyone interested. How much will it cost?
Warning: I have no idea what I'm talking about.

If you're still looking for some help, I'll be happy to give you some pointers. I've got over 10 years experience of PHP (and the rest of the LAMP stack), and we could talk about building scalable web applications (I have built several high-volume b2c sites)
