Upgrading to MySQL 4.1

OK, we've got an application that we would like to run on our site and it requires MySQL 4.1. A couple of the guys here have been tasked with looking at issues surrounding this and how to do it (they didn't know which version we were currently running so we figured they needed some learnin').

So I'm interested if anyone here has made the jump and if so, what if any issues you have encountered regarding anything to do with the upgrade and subsequent running of the database server. There's not much on the web on this (that I could find) so actual accounts of the experience would be great.

Thanks,
Mac

i assume you all have read :
http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Upgrading-from-4.0.html

http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Upgrading-from-3.23.html

http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/News-4.0.x.html

other then that, i upgraded from 3.23 to 4.0 then to 4.1 and have not had any problems.

Yup, I've gone through those and anything I could find on the web. Just wanted reassuring statements like
have not had any problems
I like the idea of getting to play with 4.1's new toys but not to sure about putting it into production use.

well, 4.1 is still in alpha. if i was gonna put anything into production, i'd maybe stick with 3.23 or 4.0. i mean, don't get me wrong there has not been any problems with the alpha, but again this is just alpha heh. wait til they release production, then i would feel more confident putting a company's server on it :P

I'm sure it'll be a fun experience - unfortunately unless there are very compelling reasons why we've got to get the upgrade in place - £20,000 of software won't run without it...
