lightweight - non-code intensive menus_database driven site

Questions about the MySQL, PostgreSQL, and most other databases, as well as using it with PHP can be asked here.

lightweight - non-code intensive menus_database driven site

Post by zak »

hi all,

I have just joined this forum and am pleasantly surprised...from reading the posts it is one of the friendlier ones....people post replies as well!! glad to have found you!... and apologies if this is the incorrect place to post this....

any suggestions for the below welcome.

I need a good script (must not be free) for a menu of about 80 items....most sub menus....for 2 or 3 levels.

The site will be in (X)html, php/mysql with CSS....partially dynamic. It is a very large site with lengthy content so I would be VERY glad to find a lightweight menu system that is search engine friendly. Search engine friendliness is of utmost importance.

I have surfed high and low for this and can not seem to come up with anything that meets (or lists) these priorities :?

Any help or recommendations will be appreciated.

Thank you,
babalu

You might have more luck if you post in the Project Help Forum :)

hi nigma,

The reason that I have posted this here is because the website I am doing functions with a mysql database and the menus must coincide nicely and quickly with the database.

I am hoping that someone who understands databases and what I am trying to achieve can recommend something appropriate. i did in the meantime find iexplorer menus for 189$.....perhaps someone knows if these are good although expensive or if there is a better alternative.

regards,
zak

there are a lot of javascript driven menus out there... take a look at hotscripts.com (javascript - navigation)

hi aquila125,

I had a look hotscripts again and lucked out and found one search engine friendly "simple" script that does not use javascript.....quite possibly too simply for my needs but at least it exists.

I assume then that it is safe to say that no dhtml menus are search engine friendly and should be avoided.

I wonder why people use them then if that is the case??? Are there truly no other possibilities?

best,
zak

Hey zak, figured you had a reason, guess I should have asked. Hopefully you did not feel like I was "nit picking" you?

Hope you find what you seek.
