i am using phptriad2-2-1 and i want to use php5 can i use it while running this ?

sorry about hijacking the thread, but does anyone know how to disable the dos window that always pops up with xampp..
i couldnt find it anywhere

You can't. Apache runs as a demon under Windows, same as MySQL or PostgreSQL. And demons have to run under DOS.
Unless there is a "cloaking device" (yeah, watched Star Trek recently) for DOS windows, you simply can't.

Err.... with win2K and XP you can run mysql and apache2 as a service. And then those ugly dosboxes don't appear
