lost data

Here is the thing. A client stores his own database on his own server running mysql 4.0.18 and IIS on win2000 sp4. Everything was running happy on Friday at end of work then on the weekend he decided to physically relocate his server from one room to another.
Then on Monday when he started up his server he had lost 1/2 his client list. It doesn't appear that he has any recent back up's otherwise it would be fixed and be on our way.
Doesn't use binary logging in mysql or any other system that I am aware off.

I was wondering if there is any way else to see what might have happened and why he would mysteriously loose half his client detials.

any thoughts, ideas.

thanks.

I finally had a chance to get more details of what transpired and it is due to human error. suprise, suprise, suprise.
Basically what happened is that windows wasn't shutting down correctly' suprise, suprise, suprise, so he just pulled the plug.
When he turned it back on corrupt files where found and replaced.

Oh well live and learn at least it's not my problem anymore. :D

I'm not sure if any of those fixes would have worked but it has now been fixed via a recovery of the data that I found out after it was out of my hands had been done.

I have book marked that section for further study.
Cheers
