[SOLVED] Pulling records by date in MySQL

My date field is of the form:

'Day' 'Date' 'of' 'Month' 'Year' HH:MM:SS PM

i.e.
Thursday 23rd of September 2004 08:49:03 PM

I'd like to retrieve the last 10 records ordered by date/time. I could retrieve the whole lot and use strtotime with PHP, but that would seem much less efficient than giving MySQL the format parameters in a SELECT.

I looked at the manual, but the examples were not that specific.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.
