It's also a given that I've spent some time on Google researching this problem though it seems the newer version has files moved, variables changed, etc. My attempts to follow those directions were unfruitful. Suggestions please? The configuration file now needs a secret passphrase (blowfish_secret).

phpMyAdmin Blowfish problem after creating MySQL password
I have a fresh copy of phpMyAdmin 3 that was working just peachy until I added a password to MySQL on the local server. Naturally I set the password in MySQL. However now it's giving me some kind of blowfish error or ...not sure how to describe it other than obnoxious.

Re: phpMyAdmin Blowfish problem after creating MySQL password
I decided since it's a local development environment that it wasn't important. Besides the ISP they have there doesn't allow Apache (regardless of port number or any other work arounds) plus I'm connected to a router and what not so I'm seriously not worried about security in such clear isolation. Eventually I'll outgrow phpMyAdmin any way and won't need it installed. For now it's helpful like Frontpage 98 was over ten year ago when I first started (in the sense that it eased the transition).

Gotta agree with you there. Phpmyadmin is what I use on those "my brain is fried it can't crawl anymore today" kind of days.
