phpMyAdmin Blowfish problem after creating MySQL password

I have a fresh copy of phpMyAdmin 3 that was working just peachy until I added a password to MySQL on the local server. Naturally I set the password in MySQL. However now it's giving me some kind of blowfish error or ...not sure how to describe it other than obnoxious.
It's also a given that I've spent some time on Google researching this problem though it seems the newer version has files moved, variables changed, etc. My attempts to follow those directions were unfruitful. Suggestions please? The configuration file now needs a secret passphrase (blowfish_secret).
