New Server

Post by jason »

Okay, if you see this, it's good. We have been moved to a new, faster, better server. While the DNS is being moved, you will be redirected here. Soon, however, the old domain names will work once again.

While I am pretty sure we lost a few (very few) posts in the move, overall, the move should be painless. Thanks goes to the fine folks at ImHosted for helping with the move, and making it uber-painless on my part. Specifically, I would like to thank John for helping to make this happen.

Sorry guys. We are bound to have lost a few things in the move. The time from the actual move of the server and making sure things are setup, to the actual redirect, things still get posted.

If their was anything critical that you needed, I still have access to the old server, and can go back and get it, but really, only if it's critical.

Yeah, my 20 posts! ><. lol no jk.

Is it just me or on the new server I'm not "remembered"? Every time I come back, I'm logged out. Anyone else with this problem?

Hi,

Initially disconcerting -- especially since it continually seems to forget who I am (I have to keep logging in). Also, it timed out with my AOL browser -- but then again I'm running at 28800 bps throughput.

It will probably forget who you are right now, because the cookie is set for devnetwork.net (iirc). Because the DNS has yet to actually move over, logging in will be a pain for now. However, once the DNS is done moving, everything will go back to normal.

Be patient. =)

Yup, been benchmarking it for a while now ;)

Forgot if this was asked, but mooving onto a bigger, better server must mean that dollars are involved.
Is this sponsored or from own pocket or...?

Nope, this is all sponsored. ImHosted.com is providing the hosting for no charge. In fact, they ask for very little, and treat me like I am a normal paying customer (well, now a VIP type). What's interesting is that when I first went with ImHosted, I was a normal paying customer.

So the relationship has evolved from there.

Glad to hear it. As I stated earlier, moving to the other side usually means that someone needs a buck in their pockets. I just wondered that if so, it wouldn't hit one persons finances alone.
