This forum is one of the reasons I started programming. I have to say that it helped me out a lot as I was trying to learn the basics and get into the field. Currently I run a web design business and I'm always browsing the forum to catch up new techniques, ideas, etc. If you wanted to improve the forum, you could honestly do with a "layout" refreshed. Just a personaly opinion, for everything else I can't complain.

I think the forum is great just the way it is, colours aren't to bright and it is relatively easy to use.

Only thing that I miss is all the other buttons for inserting php code and the like. I know what they are I think, or I can always go back to one of my old posts and 'pretend' to edit it to see the tags.

I've been around here for a couple of years now and have always found the site very useful and the mods and admins very accomodating to the users wishes and ideas for where they would like to see where the forum should go. I just hope one day to be able to join their noble ranks and help contribute to this wonderful resource.

I started with php almost 5 years ago. My level of expertise hasn't increased as much as others, but my love for the language and the community at phpdn grows every day.

I've been coding in PHP for almost 3 years now mostly because my first job presented me with the opportunity to learn it (and its free!). I've done various things from simple CMSs to online exam papers, and used it in combination with Shockwave and Flash. Basically I enjoy trying out new things with it and I owe a lot of my knowledge to this forum.

The reason my number of posts is so low is simply because I can almost guarantee I won't have been the first person with a particular problem so with a bit of patience I can usually find the answer I need somewhere. I try to help others where I can but usually someone beats me to it! That's whats so great about this forum - the response time is excellent and so is the amount of patience people have with even the most annoying posters.

I finally gained enough knowledge to apply for my first PHP specific job recently, and guess what? I got it! :D

8O why is there no option that describes just the general programming enthusiast who likes to use php? I feel like we got the short end of the stick.

Love PHP

Post by AnarKy »

I have been using PHP for a very long time now.
My job this year as a Systems Analyst just takes
up far too much of time. I wish I had more time to
play around with PHP stuff and help people on the forums.
I am trying again though.

Been doing web design as a hobbie/pass-time for about 5 or 6 years, professionally for a little over a year. I have been using php for about a year and a half, but kind of off and on. Until very recently, I never made much effort to program with it, but lately my job has really called for a programmer. I am here in hopes that when I hit bumps in the road, some of you may be able to help smooth them out. I hope to lend a hand in the web design portion of this forum as well, that being my particular area of expertise.

What do I do

Post by php3ch0 »

Hi everyone.

First post in this forum so I thought I'd tell people a bit about myself as this seems to be the place to do it.

I am a PHP developer and have been doing it or about 4 years but still have lots to learn. I have designed about 4 large websites for clients and I am now working full time as a IT Manger/ Web Developer for a company called Skillnet Group.

I joined found this forum from the big "Takeover" thing andwanted to be part of your community.

Anyway thats me signing out.

Been using PHP for a few years now. Started out just wanting to do some easy templating for my band's site, and wound up doing a full-blown CMS! ;)

I wouldn't consider myself a professional developer, though I am currently using PHP to develop an app for my job.
