Devnet New Theme / Style Contest
We are hosting a contest to put an optional face lift on our lovely home. This is a chance for those of you who want to express your creativity in design to share with the rest of the community. The winner of the contest will receive a $60 (USD) e-gift certificate to your favorite online book store to purchase a php book, a graphics design book, or whatever your heart desires...
The new theme will be an option in the 'Board Style' settings for all users of DevNet.
With every contest comes rules and they are as follows:
1)All artwork must be original or you must have expressed consent from its creator to use in your theme
2)The design may NOT contain any abusive language, explicit images or otherwise offensive materials to ANY members of this community
3)Navigation of the theme must be straight forward and easy to use
4)The theme must work on our existing platform (we can provide any questionable files as necessary)
5)Site Breadcrumbs must exist on the top and bottom of EVERY page
6)The theme must be completely x-browser compatible
7)You can submit as many themes as you'd like
8)Theme graphics must be within an acceptable file size (acceptable for users on 56k modems)
9)Most important rule...MAKE IT COOL!
If either rule 1 or 2 is violated, your theme will immediately be dropped from consideration. We will work to correct any issues with any of the other rules.
*Note: By participating in this contest, you agree that any theme you create will become the property of devnetwork.net. Put another way, if a year down the road you decide you no longer want devnetwork.net to use your theme, you have forfeited your right to require devnetwork.net to remove your theme by virtue of your consent to actively participate in the contest. This does NOT mean that devnetwork.net holds exclusive rights to your theme (you can use it / distribute it as you like), but that we reserve the right to keep your theme indefinitely. Devnetwork.net also reserves the right to modify your theme for any updates / changes as necessary without your consent.
All submissions must be turned in by Feb. 28 2006 at which point the moderator team will review all entries and generate a filtered list of our top picks. The decision on the filtered list is at our discretion. Our decision is final and there will not be a time for debate from any participants about their theme(s). Once we have pared down the finalists, we will post a new thread with a link to the themes to the community to vote on the winner of the contest. The voting for the winner will be closed Mar. 6 2006 and prize distributed accordingly.
If you would like to participate in the contest, please PM me or one of the other active mods and we will add your name to the list. Upon receipt of your PM, we will instruct you on how to submit your entries to us.
Now get those creative juices flowing and make something awesome!

Well, the theme isn't 100% finished yet, but I'll post my entry here anyway - hopefully get some input from folks.
My template can be seen here: http://www.nderson.ca/misc/phpBB2 . Feel free to register and poke around, make some comments, let me know of anything you think needs improvement and what not.
EDIT: Well, my host thought it would be a good idea to clear out all my databases. Hopefully they'll be restored quickly and I'll be good to go.
EDIT2: The phpBB database is up again - not recovered though. Nonetheless - you can now at least poke around.

Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

I love the theme, but the font could use some work in my opinion. It'd also be nice to have those big images scaled down and themed (I assume you were going to.. but yeahpickle wrote:Well, the theme isn't 100% finished yet, but I'll post my entry here anyway - hopefully get some input from folks.

I'd like to thank my parents who have always believed in me. All my friends who supported me through this time - shouts out and whatnot. Um... Dr. Pepper - thanks for always being there and pepping me up when I needed it.
