It was my understanding that there are no publicly in-use versions of Olympus that are officially endorsed by phpBB. There are several implementations that people have put up from CVS files. But the phpBB web site even says that they are not supporting that type of activity and they do not recommend implementing it unless you are knowledgable in CVS, manual database manipulation and code forking to make broken things work.
Area51, cyberalien's site (I think), is his forum for discussion on the new phpBB. It is heavily modded, themed and qute a bit different than a default installation of phpBB, but I am pretty sure it is a phpBB2 board.
PS This is staring to get a bit off-topic. I don't mind continuing the discussion, but we might to consider creating a thread for it. Just a thought.
I don't use the forum search option because...

I remember that from a long time ago. I think the challenges with the USE would be: a) The Dev Network (all member sites of the network) would have to be able to market it to the user base (mostly so newbies would know it existed) and b) all of the Dev Network member sites would need to be updated and maintained.
Would this be difficult to do? Probably not. I think the USE is a great idea. It is currently in discussion in the PHPDN REvival category, Project PU forum.
