Linux for work, win2k for games. All the reasons to switch to Vista are artificially created by microsoft. And they're digging their own grave here. Games are the single most important reason I did not yet dump windows altogether. But instead of making windows a top-notch gaming platform, microsoft pushes forward their XBox and makes windows to consume even more resources. Great business plan.
On vista they were playing quake and had 4 movies playing at the same time.
That's microsoft propaganda, simple and pure.

let's not turn this into a MS bashing thread...we've covered that plenty of times in the past.

Simple. Imagine you have a Vista PC. How would you test its performance in comparison to XP machine? Would you rather play 4 videos and a computer game at the same time, or do something that reflects real-life PC usage?

just because you wouldn't do it doesn't mean they didn't do it to see howit'd react to the stress. calling it pure propoganda (Which implies it has no basis on fact) is a little out of line. Just letting you know. No further reply is really needed since we've both said what we want too . :)

i use linux for servers but i use windows for a majoritty. my school still has computers which use windows 2000 (district sucks). We log on from the library via a winterm box

But,i tried vista and it is a killer. i would just stick with the stable old(xp) because they have the features which are *gonig to improve* in the new versions.

We use Win2K at work. I am just finishing the build of for XP, takes ages to remove all the rubbish that you don't users to see. So many prompts to change configurations and to obtain 3rd party support, without active directory its a mind field. No doubt Vista will be even worst with more of the frills and pop bubbles with suggestions you just dont want the users to entertain. Not a corporate OS at all. Put all this to one side the will most likley be countless vulnerabilities and problems to be corrected for some time to come and lets hope we dont have any more updates the size and confusion of XP SP2 to contend with on Vista.
